The Ubiquiti airCube ISP (ACB-ISP) is a compact, low-cost 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi access point designed specifically for ISP customer premises deployments alongside airMAX CPE devices. Its defining feature is 24V passive PoE passthrough on the WAN port — an airMAX CPE on the rooftop powers the airCube via a single cable, and the airCube simultaneously passes PoE back to the CPE, eliminating the need for a separate power injector at the customer premises. Managed remotely via UISP for zero-touch ISP fleet management.

Designed for ISP CPE Deployments

The airCube ISP is not a general-purpose access point — it is a last-metre CPE accessory purpose-built for WISPs and ISPs deploying airMAX wireless broadband. It is a low-cost home WiFi access point made to interoperate with airMAX CPE devices, with remote management by UISP. The typical deployment is straightforward: an airMAX CPE (NanoStation, LiteBeam, etc.) is mounted outside on the roof or wall, a single PoE cable runs indoors to the airCube, and the airCube provides Wi-Fi and wired LAN access to the customer — no separate router or injector required.

24V PoE Passthrough — One Cable, Two Devices

The airCube’s most practical feature is its controllable 24V passive PoE passthrough. The WAN port provides controllable 24V PoE out (pins 4,5+; 7,8−), allowing the airCube to simultaneously receive power from and supply power to an upstream airMAX CPE over a single Ethernet cable. To provide sufficient power for PoE passthrough, the airCube ISP requires 24V, 1A PoE input or a 2A micro USB adapter. This keeps installations clean — one cable from the ISP’s PoE injector or switch to the airCube, one cable from the airCube’s WAN port to the outdoor CPE, and everything is powered and connected.

24V passive PoE only — not 802.3af/at. Both power input and PoE passthrough are 24V passive. The airCube is not compatible with standard 802.3af/at PoE switches as a power source and should not be used to pass power to 802.3af/at-only devices.

Wi-Fi and Wired Connectivity

The airCube ISP operates on 2.4 GHz only with 802.11n 2×2 MIMO, delivering up to 300 Mbps maximum speeds, at a maximum TX power of 20 dBm with 4 dBi antenna gain. Four 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports provide wired LAN connectivity for desktop computers, smart TVs, or other wired devices at the customer premises. Note that both the wireless radio and all wired ports are Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps maximum) — the airCube is designed for the typical WISP service tier rather than multi-gigabit deployments.

2.4 GHz only — no 5 GHz band. The airCube ISP is a single-band 2.4 GHz device. For dual-band deployments or customers requiring 5 GHz connectivity, consider the airCube AC (ACB-AC) which adds a 5 GHz radio and Gigabit Ethernet ports.

UISP Remote Management

UISP (formerly UNMS) simplifies remote network management across the full ISP fleet. From UISP, an ISP can monitor all deployed airCube units, push firmware updates, apply configuration changes, and view device status across all customer premises from a single dashboard — without sending a technician on-site. Setup is also available via the UMobile app for iOS and Android, or via web UI for standalone configuration.

ESD Protection and Build

The RJ45 interfaces include ±24 kV ESD/EMP protection — relevant for a device that connects to outdoor Ethernet runs from a rooftop CPE, where lightning-induced transients are a real risk. The compact cube form factor (87.8 × 89.5 × 89.25 mm) sits unobtrusively in a customer’s home or office.
