Adaptive SLC Write Cache and QSBC ECC

The Q300 includes Adaptive Size SLC Write Cache technology, which enables SLC-like performance during burst writes — resulting in higher sustained speeds for typical workloads. On the reliability side, QSBC (Quadruple Swing-by Code) error correction technology is Toshiba’s proprietary ECC implementation, a more sophisticated algorithm than standard ECC and well-suited to TLC NAND’s inherently higher error rates compared to MLC.

NCQ, TRIM, and Read Only Mode

Native Command Queuing (NCQ) support improves SSD access and read/write performance by optimising the command sequence for efficient processing. TRIM support keeps the drive tidy by clearing unused blocks in advance, maintaining write speed consistency over time. The included Read Only Mode is a less common feature worth noting — if the drive approaches its endurance limit, it switches to a read-only state rather than failing outright, giving you a window to back up your data before replacement.

9.5mm Spacer and Migration Software Included

The Q300 includes a mounting spacer that allows it to be installed in 9.5mm drive bays, as well as free downloadable NTI Echo data migration software and Toshiba’s Storage Utility Tool. The spacer is a practical inclusion for older laptops and desktops with deeper drive bays that don’t grip a 7mm drive securely.

SATA only — this is a 2.5″ SATA III drive, not NVMe. It will not fit an M.2 slot. Confirm your system has a 2.5″ SATA bay before ordering.

9.5mm spacer included — the Q300 is a 7mm drive. The included spacer allows installation in systems with 9.5mm bays without additional hardware.

TBW note — the 240GB Q300 is rated at 60TBW, consistent with TLC drives at this capacity tier. For light to moderate daily use — booting, office applications, browsing — this is well within a comfortable working range. For heavier write workloads, consider a higher-endurance option.
