TechPowerUp confirmed the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 9070 XT OC as the most powerful cooler of all RX 9070 XT cards they tested, with excellent noise levels on the quiet BIOS. The cooling stack builds on every element from the non-XT TUF: MaxContact expands the heat spreader surface area by 5% for up to 2°C temperature improvement at the die interface, paired with a phase-change GPU thermal pad that liquefies at operating temperature for near-perfect contact. Three Axial-tech fans spin on dual ball bearings delivering up to 31% more airflow than standard fans, with the two outer fans counterclockwise to reduce turbulence. The vented exoskeleton — a diecast aluminium shroud and aluminium backplate with large cutouts — actively channels heat out of the card rather than trapping it. All fans stop below 55°C and resume above 60°C on a thermal curve tuned for balanced acoustics.

Military-Grade Components, Conformal Coating, Auto-Extreme

TUF chokes and MOSFETs are certified military-grade, backed by TUF 5K black metallic capacitors offering 52% wider temperature tolerance and 2.5× longer operational lifespan than standard capacitors. The entire PCB is coated with a conformal protective layer against moisture, dust, debris, vibration, and humidity — a meaningful differentiator for South African coastal and industrial environments where standard PCBs are more vulnerable. Auto-Extreme automated single-pass soldering reduces thermal strain on components during manufacturing and eliminates harsh cleaning chemicals, resulting in more consistent joint quality across production runs. GPU Guard adhesive corner protection and a GPU bracket ensure uniform PCIe slot mounting pressure and reduce PCB crack risk under the card’s weight.

Dual BIOS, Aura Sync ARGB, What’s in the Box

A Performance/Quiet BIOS mode switch on the card edge toggles between the two fan profiles, with the quiet profile meaningfully reducing fan speeds at the cost of slightly higher temperatures — consistent with what we saw on the non-XT TUF. Aura Sync ARGB covers the shroud and is synchronisable with other Aura Sync-compatible ASUS components via GPU Tweak III. The box includes a TUF Certificate of Reliability, TUF Gaming card holder, TUF velcro hook and loop, TUF fridge magnet, and speed setup manual — more comprehensive than the Prime’s bare-minimum accessory bundle.

PSU requirement: Three 8-pin PCIe connectors and a genuine 850W PSU are required — one more connector and 100W more than the non-XT TUF RX 9070. Confirm your PSU has three available 8-pin outputs before purchasing.

Coil whine: Some review units exhibited coil whine under certain gaming workloads. This varies between individual units and is typically less noticeable with headphones.
