AMD Ryzen 5 5500

The Ryzen 5 5500 (Zen 3 / Cezanne, 7nm TSMC) is a six-core, twelve-thread AM4 processor with a 3.6 GHz base clock and 4.2 GHz boost clock, 16 MB L3 cache, and a 65W TDP. It ships with AMD’s Wraith Stealth cooler, keeping installation simple without additional cooler spend at this platform tier. While the Ryzen 5 5500 uses PCIe 3.0 rather than the PCIe 4.0 found on Ryzen 5000 desktop (Vermeer) chips, this has no meaningful real-world impact on current discrete GPU performance — PCIe 3.0 x16 provides ample bandwidth for all current mid-range graphics cards.

The Ryzen 5 5500 has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required to obtain any display output. This kit does not include a GPU. If integrated graphics are needed, consider the PCB_UPK_21 kit (Ryzen 5 3400G) instead.

The Ryzen 5 5500 is an AM4 processor and is not compatible with AM5 motherboards. This kit is a standalone AM4 platform and cannot be combined with AM5 components.

The Ryzen 5 5500 is unlocked for overclocking, but the A520M chipset does not support CPU frequency overclocking. Memory overclocking via XMP profiles is supported on the A520 platform. If CPU OC headroom is a priority, a B550 or X570 board is required.
