The Prime RX 9060 XT OC sits one step above the Dual in ASUS’s lineup, and the differences are meaningful rather than cosmetic. Three Axial-tech fans instead of two, MaxContact at the die interface, a Dual BIOS switch, and GPU Guard corner protection come together in a 304mm, 2.5-slot package that runs cooler and more quietly under sustained gaming load than the compact Dual. The factory OC pushes the boost clock to 3330 MHz in OC mode via GPU Tweak III, with a game clock of 2760 MHz — both above AMD’s reference figures and the highest out-of-box clock speed of any RX 9060 XT in our range. Default mode runs 3310 MHz / 2740 MHz without software intervention. The underlying silicon is AMD’s Navi 44 RDNA 4 die at 2048 stream processors with the full RDNA 4 feature set: FSR 4, HYPR-RX, Fluid Motion Frames, Anti-Lag 2, 3rd-generation RT accelerators, 2nd-generation AI accelerators, and hardware AV1 encoding.

Triple Axial-Tech Fans — Leveraging Side-Panel Ventilation

The Prime RX 9060 XT features a 2.5-slot heatsink and heatpipe layout carefully arranged to let the three Axial-tech fans leverage chassis side-panel ventilation, delivering thermal performance beyond what the cooler size alone would suggest. Each Axial-tech fan uses a smaller hub to maximise blade length, with a barrier ring that channels downward air pressure into the heatsink more efficiently than open-blade designs. MaxContact improves GPU cooling by up to 2°C with 5% more heat spreader surface area compared to standard designs — a precision-machined flat contact surface that reduces thermal resistance at the die interface. All fans stop below 55°C and restart above 60°C, balancing performance and acoustics across varying workloads. Dual ball fan bearings extend fan lifespan to approximately twice that of sleeve-bearing designs.

Dual BIOS, GPU Guard, No RGB

A Dual BIOS switch on the card edge toggles between Performance and Quiet fan profiles without software — a feature the Dual SKU below it lacks. GPU Guard adhesive corner protection reinforces all four PCB corners to reduce crack risk, and a GPU bracket ensures uniform mounting pressure across the PCIe slot — practical durability engineering for a card that may sit in a build for several years. ASUS has designed the Prime as a card for buyers who want to install and forget — neutral, no-frills aesthetics with no onboard RGB, no synchronisation software required, and no lighting to manage. GPU Tweak III handles OC mode toggling, fan curve control, and real-time monitoring.
