Asus TUF Radeon™ RX 9070 Gaming OC (16GB GDDR6)

R20,425.00 inc. VAT

The ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 OC Edition 16GB steps up from the Prime with a broader feature set and a more substantial build — military-grade TUF chokes, MOSFETs, and 5K capacitors, MaxContact heat spreader technology, a phase-change thermal pad, conformal PCB coating, Dual BIOS, Aura Sync ARGB, and a factory boost clock of 2670 MHz in OC mode. All of it in a 3.125-slot, 330mm frame with 2× 8-pin power and a 750W PSU recommendation — the same power footprint as the Prime, more card around it.

Description

RX 9070 in the TUF Tier — More of Everything That Matters

The TUF Gaming RX 9070 OC runs AMD’s Navi 48 silicon at 56 compute units and 3584 stream processors — the same die as the Prime, but with ASUS’s TUF tier engineering wrapped around it. The factory OC pushes the boost clock to 2670 MHz in OC mode (via GPU Tweak III) and 2650 MHz in Default mode, both meaningfully above the Prime’s 2610/2590 MHz and AMD’s reference 2520 MHz — making this the highest-clocked non-XT RX 9070 in our range. The complete RDNA 4 feature set is onboard: FSR 4, HYPR-RX, Fluid Motion Frames, Anti-Lag 2, 3rd-gen RT accelerators, 2nd-gen AI accelerators, and hardware AV1 encoding.

Military-Grade Components — TUF Capacitors, Chokes, MOSFETs, Conformal Coating

The TUF Gaming line is defined by its power delivery and component specification. Military-grade TUF chokes and MOSFETs deliver stable power to the GPU, while TUF 5K black metallic capacitors provide 52% wider temperature tolerance and 2.5× longer lifespan than standard capacitors — the same component philosophy that earned TUF its reputation across ASUS’s motherboard and GPU lines. The PCB carries a conformal protective coating over the entire surface, guarding against moisture, dust, and debris — improving robustness under humidity and vibration — a meaningful differentiator for South African coastal or industrial environments. Auto-Extreme automated single-pass soldering reduces thermal strain on components during manufacturing and avoids the use of harsh cleaning chemicals, resulting in more consistent solder joint quality across units.

MaxContact + Phase-Change Pad + Axial-Tech Triple Fan

MaxContact is ASUS’s proprietary manufacturing process that expands the heat spreader surface area by 5% compared to traditional designs, improving GPU temperatures by up to 2°C — a small but measurable gain on top of the phase-change thermal pad that liquefies at operating temperature for near-perfect die contact. The three Axial-tech fans spin on dual ball bearings and deliver up to 31% more airflow than standard fans, with the two outer fans spinning counterclockwise to reduce turbulence and improve air dispersion across the heatsink. All fans stop below 55°C for silent idle operation, restarting above 60°C on a speed curve that balances acoustics and thermal performance. The diecast shroud and aluminium backplate feature large vents for additional heat dissipation — a vented exoskeleton rather than a solid decorative shell.

Dual BIOS, Aura Sync ARGB, GPU Guard

The TUF Gaming RX 9070 OC includes Aura Sync ARGB lighting and a Dual BIOS switch with Performance and Quiet modes — both absent from the Prime. ASUS GPU Guard applies adhesive to secure all four PCB corners to reduce crack risk, while a GPU bracket ensures uniform mounting pressure and extra slot stability — practical engineering details that matter in builds where the card’s 330mm length and 3.125-slot footprint puts some mechanical stress on the PCIe slot over time. The TUF Gaming card holder is included in the box. GPU Tweak III manages OC mode, fan curves, Aura Sync, and real-time monitoring.

⚠️ RX 9070 vs 9070 XT: The TUF RX 9070 carries 56 CUs (3584 SPs) vs the XT’s 64 CUs (4096 SPs). It’s a strong 1440p card with good 4K capability in well-optimised titles — if 4K as a primary target is your goal, the XT variants are the more capable choice.

⚠️ Case clearance: At 330 × 140 × 62.5mm and 3.125 slots, this is a large card. Verify GPU clearance in your case before purchasing, particularly in mATX and compact mid-tower builds. A TUF Gaming card holder is included.

⚠️ vs Prime RX 9070: The TUF adds Dual BIOS, Aura Sync ARGB, MaxContact, military-grade components, conformal PCB coating, and a higher factory OC (2670 vs 2610 MHz) — at the cost of a larger 3.125-slot footprint vs the Prime’s compact 2.5 slots. Both use 2× 8-pin and a 750W PSU.
