Description
What It Does
The Jowisz ONU sits at the customer end of an EPON passive optical network, converting the incoming fibre signal into a standard Gigabit Ethernet connection your equipment can use. It’s the device your ISP or network installer provisions at the premises — the bridge between the fibre plant and your internal network.
It conforms to IEEE 802.3ah (EPON) and IEEE 802.1Q standards, and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3-2005 and the EPON device technical specification V2.1, operable and manageable at telecoms level.
Ports and Connectivity
The unit provides a single SC fibre PON port and one 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-adaptive Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 LAN port. The PON interface runs at 1.25 Gbps symmetrically, using a single-mode single-fibre SC connector with a Tx wavelength of 1310 nm and Rx of 1490 nm.
⚠️ Compatibility note: This is an EPON ONU — it requires an EPON OLT on the ISP/network side. It is not compatible with GPON infrastructure. Confirm your fibre provider’s PON standard before purchasing.
VLAN and QoS Support
The device supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN with up to 4094 VLANs, VLAN conversion, Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA), QoS with traffic flow classification, priority marking, queue management, traffic shaping and control, IGMP Snooping, and Ethernet port rate limiting with loop detection. These features make it suitable for managed deployments where traffic segregation or service quality guarantees are required.
Management
Configuration is handled via a web interface. Status LEDs cover SYS, POWER, LOS, PON, and LAN states for quick visual diagnostics. Firmware can be upgraded through the web UI.
