Intel Core Ultra 5 245KF 4.2GHz 6x P-Cores 8x E-Cores LGA1851

R4,435.00 inc. VAT

The Intel Core Ultra 5 245KF is a 14-core, 14-thread desktop processor from Intel’s Arrow Lake Series 2 lineup, bringing the new LGA 1851 platform to a more accessible price point without compromising on modern connectivity or AI capability. With 6 Performance-cores boosting up to 5.2 GHz and 8 Efficient-cores reaching 4.6 GHz, backed by 24MB of L3 Smart Cache, a 125W base power, and a 159W maximum turbo power, it offers a notably more thermally restrained profile than its Ultra 7 sibling while remaining a strong performer for gaming and productivity. DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 are supported. No integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required.

Description

Arrow Lake Series 2 at Mid-Range

The 245KF is a multi-chiplet design built with the CPU tile on TSMC’s 3nm process, the SoC and I/O tiles on TSMC 6nm, and the chiplets interconnected via Intel’s Foveros 3D packaging on a 22nm base tile. The result is a 14-core, 14-thread hybrid processor — 6 Performance-cores for demanding, latency-sensitive workloads and 8 Efficient-cores for background tasks, multitasking, and lower-priority threads. Like the rest of the Arrow Lake Series 2 lineup, the 245KF drops Hyper-Threading on P-cores, giving 14 total threads rather than the 20 you’d see from a hyperthreaded 14-core design. Intel Thread Director is present in silicon, dynamically scheduling work to the right core type without manual configuration.

Practical Thermals and Overclocking

One of the 245KF’s meaningful advantages over the Ultra 7 265KF is its power ceiling: at just 159W maximum turbo power, it’s far more approachable thermally than the 265KF’s 250W ceiling or the 14900KS’s 253W. A solid 240mm AIO or quality tower air cooler handles it comfortably, keeping build costs and noise levels practical. The unlocked multiplier and Arrow Lake’s revised overclocking framework are fully supported — dual BCLK tuning, 16.6 MHz multiplier granularity, and Intel XTU monitoring are all available. DDR5 memory up to 6400 MT/s is officially supported in single DIMM-per-channel configurations, with XMP profiles for straightforward memory tuning.

Platform and AI Features

The 245KF sits on the LGA 1851 socket, requiring an Intel 800-series (Z890) motherboard — it is not compatible with LGA 1700 boards from the 600 or 700 series. The chip carries 22 TOPS of NPU AI performance from its integrated Neural Processing Unit, enabling AI-accelerated features in compatible applications as part of Intel’s AI PC initiative. PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 connectivity provide full bandwidth for current-generation GPUs and NVMe storage. The “KF” designation confirms no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU must be installed.

⚠️ No integrated graphics — a discrete GPU must be installed for display output.

⚠️ No cooler included — a quality 240mm AIO or tower air cooler is recommended for this processor.
