Intel NUC11 Extreme Kit (Intel Core i7 3.2GHz, No RAM, No SSD) Mini PC

R16,739.00 inc. VAT

The Intel NUC 11 Extreme Kit (Beast Canyon) i7 is a high-performance Mini PC barebone kit powered by an Intel Core i7-11700B processor (8 cores, 16 threads, 3.20 GHz base / 4.80 GHz boost, 65W) with a full-size PCIe x16 slot for a discrete GPU. It shares the same Beast Canyon chassis as the i9 variant with dual Thunderbolt 4, Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210, dual 2.5 GbE LAN, four M.2 slots, a 650W internal PSU, and support for up to 64 GB DDR4-3200. No RAM, SSD, or GPU included — the more accessible Beast Canyon entry point.

Description

Beast Canyon at a Lower Entry Price

The Intel NUC 11 Extreme i7 (BNUC11DBBi70000) is the more accessible variant of the Beast Canyon platform, substituting the i9-11900KB for the Intel Core i7-11700B — shaving approximately $200 from the i9 kit’s price while retaining the same 8-core, 16-thread Rocket Lake-S architecture, the same 65W TDP, the same full-size PCIe x16 GPU slot, and the same comprehensive connectivity stack. The practical performance delta between the i7 and i9 in gaming workloads is minimal — both are constrained by GPU performance in discrete GPU configurations, and the 100 MHz boost frequency difference (4.80 vs 4.90 GHz) is imperceptible in real-world use. For builders prioritising GPU budget over processor headroom, the i7 variant is the rational choice.

The Beast Canyon platform itself is unchanged: the same chassis accommodating full-size dual-slot discrete GPUs up to 343 mm in length, dual Thunderbolt 4 (USB4 / 40 Gbps) on the rear, Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210, dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports, four M.2 slots for NVMe storage, a 650W 80 Plus Gold internal power supply, front-panel SD card reader, front USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, and the modular NUC Compute Element design that separates the processor board from the chassis.

⚠️ This is a barebone kit — no RAM, SSD, or GPU are included. DDR4-3200 SO-DIMMs (up to 64 GB / 2 slots), at least one M.2 NVMe SSD, and a compatible discrete GPU must be purchased separately before the system is functional.

⚠️ The i7-11700B does not support CPU overclocking, unlike the i9-11900KB which has an unlocked multiplier. For builders planning to push CPU clocks beyond stock, the i9 variant is required.

⚠️ The PCIe x16 GPU slot is electrically limited to PCIe 3.0 x4 bandwidth — identical to the i9 variant. This has no meaningful impact on mid-range GPU performance but constrains the ceiling for very high-end cards.

💡 The performance difference between the i7-11700B and i9-11900KB Beast Canyon kits in gaming is effectively zero when a discrete GPU bottlenecks the system — which it will in virtually all gaming scenarios. The i7 kit is the better value for gaming builds; the i9 is worth the premium only for sustained multi-core CPU workloads like rendering, simulation, or video encoding where the additional single-core frequency and overclocking headroom matter.
