The ST20000NM007D is the sole SATA model in the Exos X20 lineup — all other X20 variants ship with SAS 12Gb/s interfaces, making this drive uniquely accessible for SMB server builds, prosumer NAS enclosures, and any system without a SAS controller. At 20TB it is among the highest-capacity SATA drives ever produced, delivering hyperscale storage density without requiring specialist infrastructure.
Advanced Write Caching & Enhanced Performance
The Exos X20 features Advanced Write Caching which, coupled with data transfer rates of up to 285 MB/s, significantly boosts performance without compromising capacity. Random read/write performance sits at 168/550 IOPS at 4K QD16, with idle power averaging just 5.4W and peak random read/write power draw of 9.4W/6.4W — efficient figures for a 20TB 7200 RPM enterprise drive.
Helium Sealed Design
Helium-filled X class drives weigh less than air drives, increase handling robustness, and deliver the industry’s lowest power and weight.
