The ASUS Prime B550M-K ARGB brings the key advantages of the B550 platform — PCIe 4.0, dual M.2 storage, and CPU overclocking support — into a compact Micro-ATX footprint with Aura Sync ARGB aesthetics. It supports Ryzen 3000 through 5000 and 5000 G-Series processors, and the PCIe 4.0 primary M.2 slot means top-tier NVMe drives can operate at full bandwidth when paired with a compatible Ryzen 3000 or 5000 Series CPU. ASUS’s 5X Protection III suite covers voltage regulation, LAN surge protection, SafeSlot Core PCIe reinforcement, and overcurrent protection across USB ports and DRAM, keeping the build reliable beyond the warranty window.

Power Delivery and Cooling

The Digi+ VRM delivers precise digital voltage regulation with real-time efficiency adjustments, providing stable power for Ryzen AM4 CPUs across everyday and light overclocking workloads. A PCH heatsink keeps chipset temperatures in check under sustained use. Fan Xpert 2+ manages fan headers with hybrid PWM/DC auto-detection and temperature-based curve control. Q-LED Core provides onboard diagnostic LEDs — CPU, DRAM, VGA, and Boot — that light up sequentially during POST to quickly identify hardware issues without needing a debug display or POST card.

Memory and Storage

Two DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 64 GB of dual-channel unbuffered memory — ECC support is CPU-dependent — with OC profiles reaching DDR4-5100 for compatible kits. The primary M.2 slot (M.2_1) supports PCIe 4.0 x4 and SATA modes in 2242, 2260, and 2280 lengths when paired with Ryzen 5000 or 3000 Series CPUs, dropping to PCIe 3.0 x4 with 4000 G-Series APUs. The secondary M.2 slot (M.2_2, via the B550 chipset) supports PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA in lengths up to 22110. Neither slot includes a thermal guard heatsink. Connectivity

A Realtek Gigabit LAN port with ASUS LANGuard hardware protection handles wired networking — standard 1 GbE rather than 2.5 GbE. No onboard WiFi is included. Rear display outputs cover DisplayPort and HDMI, suited to APU-based builds with modern monitor setups. A front panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C header is included for chassis with Type-C front I/O — a notable addition at this price point. Audio uses a dedicated codec with Audio Shielding and Japanese capacitors for clean output. ⚠️ PCIe 4.0 on the primary M.2 and GPU slot requires a Ryzen 3000 or 5000 Series CPU — Ryzen 4000 G-Series APUs are PCIe 3.0 only and will not unlock PCIe 4.0 on this board.

⚠️ Neither M.2 slot includes a thermal guard heatsink. An aftermarket M.2 heatsink is recommended for PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives under sustained workloads.

⚠️ Confirm your Ryzen 5000 Series CPU against ASUS’s AM4 compatibility list — a BIOS update may be required before 5000-series CPUs are recognised on earlier board revisions.

⚠️ The front USB Type-C header is USB 3.2 Gen 1 speed — confirm your chassis front panel spec if Gen 2 transfer rates are important.
