The NUC13RNGi5 ships as a ready-to-populate barebone system: the NUC 13 Extreme chassis arrives fully assembled with the Core i5-13600K Compute Element installed and the 750W SFX PSU wired in. There’s no chassis sourcing, no PSU compatibility to figure out, and no assembly beyond installing your DDR5 SO-DIMM modules, M.2 SSDs, optional GPU, and operating system. The Core i5-13600K is a full 125W unlocked desktop-class Raptor Lake processor — 14 cores (6 Performance + 8 Efficient), 20 threads, boosting to 5.1GHz on the Intel Z690 platform. This is not a laptop chip in a small box; it is a desktop workstation in a chassis measuring roughly 337 × 318 × 129mm.

Triple-Slot GPU Support — Full PCIe 5.0 x16

The NUC 13 Extreme’s defining feature is its full-bandwidth PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion slot, which accepts triple-slot discrete graphics cards up to 313mm in length at up to approximately 450W via 12VHPWR and three 6+2-pin PCIe power connectors. The 750W SFX PSU is sized for demanding GPU configurations. For GPU-accelerated workloads, 3D rendering, content creation, or high-refresh gaming at 1440p and 4K, no other Mini PC in this lineup comes close.

Storage, Connectivity, and Networking

Three M.2 slots handle storage: one CPU-attached PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe (2280), and two PCH-attached slots supporting PCIe 4.0 NVMe or SATA3 (42/80mm) with RAID-0 and RAID-1 support. Rear I/O includes two Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 Type-C ports, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports (10Gbps), HDMI 2.1 (4K@60Hz), three 3.5mm audio jacks, and dual LAN — Intel 2.5GbE and AQtia 10GbE. The front panel adds a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps) port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Wireless is Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1690i with Bluetooth 5.2 and dual external antennas.

⚠️ RAM, SSD, GPU, and OS Not Included: This is a barebone kit. DDR5 SO-DIMM memory, M.2 NVMe SSDs, a discrete GPU (optional), and an operating system must be sourced separately. Windows 11 64-bit is supported.

⚠️ 125W Desktop Processor — Not a Low-Power Device: The Core i5-13600K is an unlocked desktop-class CPU rated at 125W base power. The NUC 13 Extreme is engineered and cooled for this TDP, but this is a high-performance computing platform — not a quiet office appliance. Thermal and acoustic output reflect the desktop-class hardware inside.

⚠️ Intel NUC Programme Discontinued: Intel exited the NUC business in 2023, making the NUC 13 Extreme the final Intel-produced generation. Ongoing BIOS updates, support, and warranty services have transferred to ASUS following their acquisition of the NUC product line. Factor this into long-term support planning for business or production deployments.
