The Viper Steel RGB features a clean matte-black aluminium heat spreader bearing only the golden Viper logo and a removable specification sticker — keeping the design clutter-free and premium. At 44mm (1.73 inches) tall, the Viper Steel RGB is not excessively tall and should fit under the majority of CPU air coolers, though clearance should be confirmed before purchasing. The matte-black finish and gold accent create a striking visual contrast without being overstated — a confident aesthetic that suits both gaming and professional build aesthetics.

Five-Zone RGB Lighting

The RGB light bar features five customisable lighting zones. Patriot does not provide dedicated RGB control software for the Viper Steel RGB — lighting control relies on motherboard RGB sync software, with compatibility covering ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0, MSI Mystic Light Sync, and ASRock Polychrome Sync. For builders already invested in any of these ecosystems, the Viper Steel RGB integrates seamlessly; those without a compatible motherboard should verify sync support before purchasing.

⚠️ No standalone RGB software: RGB control requires compatible motherboard software (ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light, or ASRock Polychrome Sync). Ensure your motherboard supports one of these ecosystems before purchasing.

Performance & XMP 2.0

The PVSR48G360C0 runs at DDR4-3600 (PC4-28800) with CL20-26-26-46 timings at 1.35V. Without XMP enabled, the module defaults to DDR4-2666 at 19-19-19-43 at stock. CL20 at DDR4-3600 is a looser primary timing profile than CL16 or CL18 alternatives at this frequency — the performance advantage over DDR4-3200 CL16 modules comes from raw bandwidth at the higher clock rate rather than lower absolute latency. DDR4-3600 remains the recognised sweet spot for AMD Ryzen DDR4 performance at the platform’s optimal 1:1 FCLK ratio.

💡 XMP must be enabled for rated speed: This module defaults to DDR4-2666 without XMP 2.0 activated in BIOS (or DOCP/EXPO on AMD). Enable XMP to unlock DDR4-3600 at CL20-26-26-46. Updating your BIOS before installation is recommended for best compatibility.

⚠️ CL20 note: The CL20 primary timing at DDR4-3600 is looser than the CL16 or CL18 found on some competing modules at the same frequency. The bandwidth advantage from the higher clock speed is the primary performance benefit over DDR4-3200 CL16 alternatives.

Compatible across AM4 (Ryzen), LGA1200, and LGA1700 (where DDR4 is supported). As a single 8GB stick it operates in single-channel mode by default; pairing with a second matching module enables 16GB dual-channel.

⚠️ Single stick = single channel: For dual-channel bandwidth and synchronised five-zone RGB lighting across both slots, install a second PVSR48G360C0 in your motherboard’s recommended paired DIMM slots.
