The MG10ACA20TE is the highest-capacity SATA model in Toshiba’s MG10 enterprise lineup, achieving 20TB through MAMR (Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology. MAMR uses microwave energy to temporarily reduce recording medium coercivity during write operations, enabling higher platter density while preserving conventional CMR write behaviour — delivering consistent, predictable random write performance that enterprise RAID and NAS deployments depend on. At 20TB, it matches the Seagate Exos X20 ST20000NM007D on capacity while sharing the same enterprise-grade SATA accessibility.
Helium Sealed Design
The MG10ACA20TE is helium-sealed, reducing aerodynamic drag on the drive’s platters for lower operating temperatures, quieter operation, and improved power efficiency per terabyte. At 9.3W typical operating power for a 20TB drive, the watts-per-TB ratio is excellent — comparable to smaller-capacity air-filled drives of an earlier generation, and a meaningful TCO advantage in dense rack deployments.
