Transcend’s DDR5 JetRam line carries forward the defining quality differentiator of the DDR4 JetRam already listed in this range. Compliant with JEDEC international standards, Transcend’s new-gen DDR5 JetRam memory modules are manufactured with true ETT grade, brand-name DRAM chips that have passed Transcend’s strict screening process and rigorous environmental testing. The module ships on a standard green PCB with no heat spreader and no RGB — Transcend’s focus, as with DDR4 JetRam, is on component quality and long-term reliability over aesthetics. PCB height is 1.23 inches, fitting virtually all desktop cases and CPU cooler configurations.

DDR5 Architecture & Dual Subchannel Design

The DDR5 generation introduces a meaningful internal architectural change over DDR4 that directly benefits performance. DDR5 features two independent 32-bit channels that bring speeds to 4,800MT/s. Each DDR5 module effectively presents two independent 32-bit memory channels to the memory controller rather than DDR4’s single 64-bit channel — improving memory access parallelism and burst efficiency. The 1.1V low working voltage and PMIC effectively reduce signal interruption while cutting down power consumption, and on-die ECC automatically spots and corrects data errors, enhancing data integrity and system stability.

Single-Rank (1Rx8) Configuration

The JM4800ALE-16G uses a 1Rx8 single-rank configuration with a (2Gx8)×8 component composition — eight 2Gx8 chips in a single-rank arrangement. This contrasts with the dual-rank (2Rx8) configuration found on the ADATA Value and Premier DDR5-4800 16GB modules in this range. For most everyday workloads the practical performance difference between single-rank and dual-rank at 16GB is negligible; single-rank typically offers slightly better signal integrity in multi-slot populated boards, while dual-rank provides marginally better memory bus interleaving in memory-intensive workloads.

Performance Profile

The JM4800ALE-16G runs at DDR5-4800 (PC5-38400) with CL40 timings at 1.1V via JEDEC specification — no XMP profile, no BIOS configuration required. Operating temperature is 0°C to 85°C. The module will run at rated DDR5-4800 speed on any compatible platform straight out of the box.

DDR5 Platform Requirements

DDR5 is not compatible with DDR4 motherboards or slots. A DDR5-capable motherboard and CPU is required — Intel 12th generation Alder Lake or later on a DDR5-compatible board, or AMD Ryzen 7000 series (AM5) or later.
