Design & Heat Spreader

The XPG Spectrix D50 features a simplistic and clean design with a sharp angular geometric theme, including a triangle-shaped RGB light diffuser. The heat sink is composed of thick aluminium with deep grooves on each side, adding to its style and increasing surface area for better cooling. At 1.95mm thick, the metal heat spreader offers excellent durability and projects an air of strength and high performance — substantially more robust than the thin stamped spreaders common on mid-tier RGB modules. The tungsten grey colourway is understated and build-neutral, complementing both dark and light themed systems.

RGB Lighting

The D50 features a clean and elegant exterior with simple geometric lines and a triangular RGB panel that fits in perfectly with the module’s overall design. Using the XPG RGB Sync app or compatible motherboard RGB software, users can switch between four RGB modes — Static, Breathing, Comet, and Music — giving solid personalisation options without overwhelming the build’s aesthetic. The D50’s RGB approach is intentionally more restrained than the D60G’s full-strip design, producing a softer, more focused glow. RGB sync support covers ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and ASRock Polychrome Sync.

Performance & XMP 2.0

The D50 runs at a tested speed of 3200MHz with CL16-20-20 timings at 1.35V via Intel XMP 2.0. Without XMP enabled, the module defaults to its JEDEC base frequency — typically DDR4-2666 — and XMP must be activated in BIOS to reach the rated DDR4-3200 speed. Intel XMP 2.0 makes overclocking a snap and enhances system stability, allowing users to apply the rated frequency without manually adjusting individual BIOS parameters.

💡 XMP must be enabled for rated speed: Without activating XMP 2.0 in BIOS, this module will default to JEDEC speed (typically DDR4-2666). Enable XMP on Intel, or DOCP/EXPO on AMD, to unlock DDR4-3200 at CL16-20-20. This is normal behaviour, not a defect.

Compatibility & Warranty

The module is compatible across AM4 (Ryzen), LGA1200, and LGA1700 (where DDR4 is supported). As a single 8GB stick it runs in single-channel mode by default; installing a second matching module in the recommended dual-channel slots unlocks full dual-channel bandwidth and pairs the RGB for a symmetrical look.

⚠️ Check CPU cooler clearance: The 1.95mm aluminium heat spreader adds height to the module. Verify your CPU cooler’s RAM slot clearance before purchasing, particularly with large tower air coolers.
