What the CloudKey+ Is

The CloudKey+ is a self-contained UniFi Console — a small always-on application server that runs the full UniFi software stack locally at your site. It connects directly to the UniFi Site Manager at unifi.ui.com for cloud access and multi-site management, but all configuration, statistics, and video recordings are stored locally on the device. Video recordings are stored privately on the Cloud Key Gen2 Plus — with a built-in 1 TB SSD you can retain hundreds of hours of recording without third-party storage or online digital footprints.

This is the practical choice for deployments where a full UniFi Dream Machine or rack console is unnecessary — a small office, a retail site, a school, or a home deployment where you want local UniFi management and camera recording without a dedicated server.

Full UniFi Application Suite

The UCK-G2-SSD runs the full UniFi application suite: Network (switching, routing, Wi-Fi), Protect (IP camera management and recording), Access (door access control), Talk (VoIP), and Connect. All five applications run simultaneously on a single device. Camera limits are up to 24 HD, 14 2K, or 8 4K cameras in UniFi Protect, and up to 80 Access Hubs for door control.

1 TB SSD — Pre-Installed and User-Upgradeable

The UCK-G2-SSD includes a pre-installed 1 TB 2.5″ SATA SSD that can be upgraded if needed. The SSD bay is user-accessible via the side release latch — replacing or upgrading the drive does not require opening a sealed enclosure. For larger camera deployments or longer retention windows, upgrading to a higher-capacity 2.5″ SATA SSD extends storage without replacing the console itself.

⚠️ No built-in battery. The UCK-G2-SSD does not include an internal battery for safe shutdown during power loss. An external UPS is recommended for deployments where power interruptions are likely, to protect the SSD and prevent database corruption on sudden power loss.

Hardware

The UCK-G2-SSD is powered by an octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC flash storage — sufficient for running all five UniFi applications, handling live camera streams, and serving the web interface simultaneously without noticeable latency.

Power — PoE or USB-C

There is a Gigabit Ethernet port supporting 802.3af PoE, and the device can also be powered via USB-C with QuickCharge 2.0 technology. The PoE option means the CloudKey+ can be powered directly from a UniFi PoE switch without a separate power adapter, keeping the installation clean. Maximum power consumption is 9.6W.

Setup, Display, and Connectivity

Setup is via Bluetooth using the UniFi mobile app — no console cable or initial web configuration required. A 1.42″ greyscale OLED display on the front shows system stats. Additional ports include two USB-C ports and a microSD card slot for optional additional storage or expansion.

Hybrid Cloud — Private Remote Access

A UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 Plus installed at each deployment site provides an always-on, private UniFi cloud service. Every site is accessible through its assigned secure single sign-on. Each Cloud Key Gen2 Plus is independent with its own network monitoring, configuration, maps, statistics, and admin accounts. Remote access is provided through unifi.ui.com without exposing the device directly to the internet.
