ADATA XPG Spectrix D50 16GB (DDR4-3600, CL18, RGB) Desktop RAM
R1,959.00 inc. VAT
The ADATA XPG Spectrix D50 16GB DDR4-3600 steps up from the DDR4-3200 D50 variants with a higher 3600MHz clock speed — the widely recognised sweet spot for AMD Ryzen DDR4 performance — paired with CL18-22-22 timings, 1.50V operating voltage, and the same triangular RGB light bar and 1.95mm aluminium heat spreader the D50 line is known for. Intel XMP 2.0 support makes overclocking straightforward and stable, with verified compatibility across the latest AMD platforms. For Ryzen-based builds where DDR4-3600 is the performance target, this is the D50 to reach for.

Description
DDR4-3600: The Ryzen Sweet Spot
DDR4-3600 occupies a well-established position as the optimal memory frequency for AMD Ryzen platforms — it sits at the boundary of the Ryzen memory controller’s 1:1 FCLK ratio at 1800MHz, delivering the best balance of memory bandwidth and latency before the infinity fabric clock decouples and introduces additional latency penalties. The XPG Spectrix D50 DDR4-3600 delivers an excellent out-of-the-box experience at its rated frequency, making it particularly well suited for Ryzen systems prioritising a balance between aesthetics and performance. Intel platform users also benefit from the higher bandwidth at 3600MHz, though the latency advantage is slightly less pronounced than on Ryzen.
Design & RGB Lighting
The D50’s visual identity is unchanged at DDR4-3600. The D50 features a clean and elegant exterior with simple geometric lines and a triangular RGB panel that fits in perfectly with the module’s overall design. At 1.95mm thick, the metal heat spreader offers excellent durability and projects an air of strength and high performance. The tungsten grey colourway keeps the aesthetic build-neutral, complementing dark and light-themed systems equally.
Using the XPG RGB Sync app or compatible motherboard RGB software, users can switch between four RGB modes — Static, Breathing, Comet, and Music. Full ecosystem compatibility covers ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and ASRock Polychrome Sync.
Performance & XMP 2.0
The AX4U360016G18I-ST50 runs at 3600MT/s with CL18-22-22 timings at 1.50V operating voltage, unbuffered and non-ECC on a 288-pin DIMM. The higher voltage compared to the DDR4-3200 variants (1.35V) is normal and expected at DDR4-3600 — all DDR4 modules operating at this speed grade require elevated voltage to maintain signal integrity at the higher clock rate. Intel XMP 2.0 support makes overclocking straightforward, and ADATA memory has been tested and verified to work with the latest AMD platforms for hassle-free compatibility and excellent overclocking performance.
💡 XMP must be enabled for rated speed: Without activating XMP 2.0 in BIOS (or DOCP/EXPO on AMD), this module defaults to JEDEC base speed. Enable XMP to unlock DDR4-3600 at CL18-22-22. Updating your BIOS before installation is recommended for best compatibility.
💡 1.50V is normal at DDR4-3600: The higher operating voltage compared to DDR4-3200 modules is expected and within safe DDR4 operating parameters. This is not a defect.
DDR4-3600 vs DDR4-3200 D50
The DDR4-3600 variant (AX4U360016G18I-ST50) runs 400MHz faster than the DDR4-3200 variants but with looser primary timings (CL18 vs CL16) and higher voltage (1.50V vs 1.35V). For AMD Ryzen systems the frequency advantage is meaningful and the DDR4-3600 is the recommended choice; for Intel systems either speed grade delivers strong performance and the choice comes down to budget. Both variants share the same D50 physical design, RGB system, and build quality.
⚠️ Check CPU cooler clearance: The D50’s 1.95mm aluminium heat spreader adds height. Verify your CPU cooler’s RAM clearance before purchasing, particularly with large tower air coolers.
⚠️ Single stick = single channel: For dual-channel bandwidth and a symmetrical RGB pairing, install a second AX4U360016G18I-ST50 in your motherboard’s recommended paired DIMM slots. Refer to your board’s manual for the correct slot configuration.
