MSI GeForce RTX™ 5060 Shadow 2X OC (8GB GDDR7)

R8,365.00 inc. VAT

The MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Shadow 2X OC sits between the VENTUS and Gaming OC in MSI’s RTX 5060 lineup, sharing the same 2527 MHz boost clock as the VENTUS but stepping up to a nickel-plated copper baseplate and square core pipes for improved GPU contact. Blackwell architecture, 3,840 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR7, TORX Fan 5.0 with ZERO FROZR, and a purposeful matte-black design with no RGB. Performance-focused without the premium cooler price.

Description

Shadow: More Thermal Engineering, Same Clock

The Shadow 2X OC is MSI’s performance-focused design aimed at gamers who want the gaming experience without paying for a flagship cooler. It shares the same RTX 5060 Blackwell silicon as the VENTUS: 3,840 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR7 at 28 Gbps on a 128-bit bus, boosting to 2527 MHz standard with 2535 MHz available in MSI Center’s Extreme Performance mode, delivering 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The full Blackwell feature set is present — DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, NVIDIA Reflex 2 with Frame Warp, fourth-generation RT Cores, and fifth-generation Tensor Cores. What sets the Shadow apart from VENTUS is not the clock but the cold plate design.

TORX Fan 5.0 with Nickel-Plated Copper Baseplate

TORX Fan 5.0 links three sets of 22-degree tilted fan blades with ring arcs, increasing airflow by up to 23% compared to conventional axial fans. Below that, heat from the GPU and memory is captured by a nickel-plated copper baseplate and transferred through square-profile core pipes that maximise contact area with the GPU baseplate for optimal thermal management — a meaningful step up from the standard heat pipe setup on the VENTUS. ZERO FROZR stops the fans completely at low temperatures, with automatic spin-up when gaming begins, and a vented reinforcing backplate allows exhaust air to pass directly through rather than recirculating inside the card.

PCB Safeguards and Build

The Shadow’s PCB includes additional onboard fuses as premium electrical safeguards against power-related damage — practical insurance for builds where PSU quality or power delivery can be variable. The matte-black shroud has no RGB and no backlit elements, fitting cleanly into any colour scheme. Note that the reinforcing backplate on this card is constructed from plastic, not metal — it provides structural support and the exhaust vent, but not the rigidity of an aluminium backplate.

Power and Connectivity

The card draws 145W through a single 8-pin PCIe connector, with a 550W PSU recommendation, and measures 197 × 120 × 40 mm in a 2-slot footprint. Display outputs cover 3× DisplayPort 2.1b and 1× HDMI 2.1b, supporting up to 4 simultaneous displays at 7680×4320. The interface is PCIe Gen 5 x16, operating electrically at x8, fully backwards compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 motherboards. MSI Center handles real-time monitoring and tuning, with MSI Afterburner for full manual overclocking control.

💡 Shadow vs VENTUS 2X OC: Both cards boost to 2527 MHz. The Shadow adds a nickel-plated copper baseplate and square core pipes for better thermal contact, plus onboard PCB fuses. The VENTUS uses a standard heat pipe arrangement at a slightly lower price. No clock difference.

⚠️ Backplate material: The reinforcing backplate is plastic, not metal. It vents exhaust effectively but does not offer the structural rigidity of an aluminium or steel backplate found on higher-tier MSI cards.

⚠️ 8GB GDDR7 note: Strong at 1080p and capable at 1440p with DLSS enabled. The 128-bit bus and 8GB VRAM ceiling will limit native 4K at maximum settings in texture-heavy AAA titles — DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation is the recommended path to smooth 4K.

⚠️ PCIe lane note: PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot, operating at x8 electrically. Fully compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 motherboards with no performance penalty at this tier.
