RDNA 2 with a Factory OC That Makes a Difference

Gigabyte’s Gaming OC treatment pushes the RX 6700 XT’s boost clock to 2622 MHz and game clock to 2514 MHz — meaningfully above AMD’s reference clocks of 2581 MHz and 2321 MHz respectively. The underlying silicon is AMD’s 7nm RDNA 2 architecture: 40 compute units, 2560 stream processors, and 96MB of Infinity Cache that dramatically boosts effective memory bandwidth beyond what the 192-bit bus alone would suggest. At 1440p across mainstream titles, this is still a capable card, and the 12GB GDDR6 frame buffer gives it more headroom than many cards at comparable price points. DirectX 12 Ultimate, hardware ray tracing, variable rate shading, and AMD FidelityFX features (FSR 1, 2, and 3) are all supported.

WINDFORCE 3X — Triple Fans, Graphene Lubricant, Screen Cooling

The WINDFORCE 3X cooler brings three 80mm fans with alternate spin directions — the outer fans spin in one direction, the centre fan in the opposite — reducing turbulence and improving airflow consistency across the full heatsink surface. Five 6mm composite copper heatpipes make direct contact with the GPU die via a copper baseplate. A standout detail is Gigabyte’s use of graphene nano lubricant in the fan bearings — a material with significantly better thermal conductivity and longevity than conventional lubricants, extending bearing life and maintaining fan performance over time. Screen cooling extends airflow beyond the PCB edge through a gap in the backplate, improving exhaust efficiency. The 3D active fan mode stops all three fans under low load for quiet desktop use.

RGB Fusion 2.0, Solid Build, Flexible Output

RGB Fusion 2.0 covers the Gigabyte logo on the shroud, with full colour and effect customisation through Gigabyte’s software. A full-length metal backplate protects the PCB and adds structural rigidity. Display outputs are 2× HDMI 2.1 and 2× DisplayPort 1.4a, supporting up to four simultaneous displays at up to 7680×4320 — a slightly different output split from other RX 6700 XT models worth noting if your display setup depends on a specific connector type. Power delivery requires a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe connector, with a 650W PSU recommendation.
