R1,609.00 inc. VAT

The Gigabyte A620M H is a compact, entry-level Micro-ATX AM5 motherboard built on the AMD A620 chipset, supporting Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series processors. It features a 5+2+2 phase digital VRM, two DDR5 DIMM slots for up to 128 GB with AMD EXPO and XMP support, a single PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot, four SATA ports, 1GbE LAN, and a triple-display rear output via DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and D-Sub — the most accessible entry point into the AM5 platform for basic everyday builds.

Description

The Simplest Path to AM5

The A620M H is Gigabyte’s stripped-back AM5 Micro-ATX option, designed for builds where the platform matters more than the peripheral count. It brings Socket AM5 compatibility with Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series processors to the lowest price tier in the A620 lineup, with the same 5+2+2 phase digital VRM as its A620M DS3H stablemate keeping power delivery stable and efficient for mainstream processor loads. Gigabyte’s Smart Fan 6 technology manages fan headers with multiple temperature sensor inputs, hybrid PWM/DC control, and individual FAN STOP capability — a feature more commonly found on boards above this price point. Q-Flash Plus allows firmware updates without a CPU, RAM, or graphics card installed, which is a practical inclusion for anyone updating BIOS ahead of a Ryzen 9000 installation.

⚠️ The A620 chipset does not support CPU overclocking. Memory overclocking via AMD EXPO and XMP profiles is supported up to DDR5-7200 (OC). This is a lower ceiling than the A620M DS3H (DDR5-8000 OC) — a meaningful difference if high-speed memory kits are planned.

⚠️ The VRM is best suited to 65W TDP processors under sustained load. 105W CPUs will run at stock without issue, but high-TDP sustained workloads are outside the comfort zone of this power stage. A B650 or higher board is recommended for Ryzen 9 builds.

Memory and Storage

Two DDR5 DIMM slots support dual-channel operation up to 128 GB, with AMD EXPO and XMP profile support up to DDR5-7200 (OC). The single CPU-connected M.2 slot (M2A_CPU) runs at PCIe 4.0 x4 with Ryzen 7000/9000 and Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 1 processors, and at PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 with Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 2. It supports both 2280 and the extended 2580 form factor. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports are available for additional drives, and RAID 0/1/10 is supported for both SATA and NVMe storage.

⚠️ Only two DIMM slots are present — maximum capacity is 128 GB across two sticks, and dual-channel requires both slots to be populated with a matched pair. Builders who may want to expand beyond two sticks or 128 GB should look at the A620M DS3H, which offers four DIMM slots and up to 256 GB.

⚠️ Only one M.2 slot is present. Additional NVMe drives will need to share SATA ports with 2.5″ SSDs.

Connectivity and I/O

The rear I/O panel carries three display outputs for iGPU-equipped processors: DisplayPort 1.4 (up to 4K 144Hz), HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K 60Hz), and a D-Sub/VGA port (up to 1920×1200 60Hz), with simultaneous triple-display support. USB on the rear is modest but functional: two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports from the CPU and three USB 2.0 Type-A ports from the chipset, plus a PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port for legacy peripherals and a Q-Flash Plus button. There is no USB Type-C port anywhere on this board — neither rear nor as a front panel header. Front panel USB is handled by one USB 3.2 Gen1 header and one USB 2.0 header. Realtek Gigabit LAN (1GbE) handles wired networking. Fan headers consist of one CPU fan and two system fan headers. RGB lighting is supported via one addressable RGB (ARGB) header and one standard RGB header.

⚠️ No USB Type-C port is present on this board anywhere — neither on the rear panel nor as a front panel header. If Type-C connectivity is needed, a USB add-in card or the A620M DS3H (which includes a rear USB Type-C) should be considered.

⚠️ No Wi-Fi module is included and no M.2 Key E slot is available for a wireless add-in. A USB or PCIe Wi-Fi adapter is required for wireless connectivity.

⚠️ LAN speed is 1 Gigabit only — this board does not include 2.5GbE.

⚠️ Integrated display output (DisplayPort, HDMI, D-Sub) requires a Ryzen processor with integrated Radeon graphics. Non-G Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs do not include an iGPU — a discrete GPU is required in those builds.
