Intel Core Ultra Series 2 ATX with Wi-Fi 6E and PCIe Gen5 Storage

The B860 DS3H WiFi6E is Gigabyte’s mainstream Intel B860 ATX offering for the LGA1851 platform, supporting Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors across the full range. The 8+1+2 phase hybrid VRM on a 6-layer, mid-loss PCB with UD Solid Pin 8-pin CPU power connector provides stable, efficient power delivery for the full Core Ultra Series 2 lineup, with the D5 Bionic Corsa memory subsystem and DDR5 XMP Booster BIOS feature maximising DDR5 compatibility and performance out of the box. M.2 Thermal Guard heatsinks on both M.2 slots keep NVMe thermals in check, and EZ-Latch on the primary PCIe x16 slot enables tool-free GPU removal. Six fan headers — including two system fan/pump headers — give this board more cooling flexibility than typical budget Intel boards. The WIFI EZ-Plug replaces traditional threaded SMA antenna connectors with a simple push-in design, and debug boot LEDs assist build and troubleshooting workflows.

⚠️ The Intel B860 chipset does not support CPU overclocking. Memory overclocking via Intel XMP profiles is supported up to DDR5-9066 (OC). For CPU OC, an Intel Z890 motherboard is required.

💡 The Intel NPU driver (for AI acceleration on Core Ultra Series 2 processors) is only supported on Windows 11. Windows 10 is supported for general operation but does not benefit from NPU features.

Memory and Storage

Four DDR5 DIMM slots support dual-channel operation up to 256 GB, with XMP profiles reaching DDR5-9066 (OC). ECC Un-buffered DIMM modules are supported in non-ECC mode. M2A_CPU is CPU-connected at PCIe 5.0 x4 (128 Gb/s), supporting the extended 25110, 22110, 2580, and 2280 form factors, with M.2 Thermal Guard heatsink coverage. M2P_SB is chipset-connected at PCIe 4.0 x4 (64 Gb/s), also supporting up to 25110, 22110, 2580, and 2280 form factors, with M.2 Thermal Guard heatsink coverage. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports handle additional storage, with RAID 0/1/5/10 supported for SATA.

⚠️ Only two M.2 slots are present. Three-drive NVMe builds will need SATA for the additional drive.

💡 The D5 Bionic Corsa memory feature and DDR5 XMP Booster BIOS provide ready-to-use OC settings derived from memory IC and PMIC vendor analysis, simplifying DDR5 tuning without manual tweaking.

Connectivity and I/O

Rear I/O provides a strong USB stack: one USB Gen2x2 Type-C (20 Gbps, chipset), one USB Gen2 Type-A (10 Gbps, red, chipset), and four USB 2.0 Type-A, alongside DisplayPort 2.1 (up to 4096×2304@60Hz) and HDMI 2.1 (up to 4096×2160@60Hz) for Intel iGPU-equipped processors, a PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port, Realtek 2.5GbE RJ-45, dual Wi-Fi antenna connectors, and Q-Flash Plus button. Front panel headers include a USB Type-C Gen1 header (5 Gbps), two USB Gen1 ports via a header, and four USB 2.0 ports via two headers. Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax, 2.4/5/6 GHz, 160 MHz, up to 2.4 Gbps) and Bluetooth 5.3 (rev 1.2, Intel AX211) or Bluetooth 5.4 (rev 1.3, Realtek RTL8852CE) are onboard. Fan headers total six: CPU_FAN, CPU_FAN/pump, two system fan headers, and two system fan/pump headers, all 4-pin PWM/DC with Smart Fan 6. RGB Fusion 2.0 is supported via three Addressable Gen2 (ARGB) headers and one standard RGB LED header. Debug boot LEDs (CPU/DRAM/VGA/BOOT) complete the feature set.

⚠️ The Wi-Fi module varies by PCB revision: rev 1.2 uses Intel AX211 (Wi-Fi 6E, BT 5.3), rev 1.3 uses Realtek RTL8852CE (Wi-Fi 6E, BT 5.4). Both support 2.4/5/6 GHz and 160 MHz operation.

⚠️ Integrated display output (HDMI/DisplayPort) requires an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor with integrated Intel graphics. Core Ultra Series 2 HX processors without integrated graphics require a discrete GPU.
