The Gigabyte A520M DS3H V2 occupies a sensible middle ground within Gigabyte’s A520 lineup — more capable than the two-slot A520M K V2, without the cost of stepping up to B550. The key practical advantage is four DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to 128 GB of RAM, which broadens its appeal beyond bare-minimum office machines to light workstation and multi-application desktop use. Gigabyte’s Ultra Durable construction carries through — all-solid capacitors, anti-sulfur resistors, and enhanced ESD protection contribute to the long service life expected of office and professional equipment.

Power Delivery

The digital VRM with low RDS(on) MOSFETs handles power delivery for mainstream Ryzen AM4 CPUs within sensible TDP limits. As with all A520 boards, CPU overclocking is not supported by the chipset — this platform is built for stable, reliable operation at stock frequencies rather than enthusiast tuning. Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors in the 65W bracket are the natural pairing for this board. The solid-pin CPU power connector provides stable power delivery under sustained workloads.

Memory and Storage

Four DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 128 GB of dual-channel ECC/non-ECC unbuffered memory — a notable advantage over competing two-slot A520 boards — with A-XMP OC support reaching DDR4-4733 for compatible kits. A single PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 drives up to 2280 length, without a thermal guard heatsink. Four SATA III ports provide additional conventional storage capacity. No second M.2 slot is available on this board.

Connectivity

A Gigabit LAN port with bandwidth management handles wired networking, and no onboard WiFi is included. The rear I/O provides dual display outputs — DisplayPort and HDMI — a more versatile pairing than the HDMI and D-Sub found on the A520M K V2, and well suited to dual-monitor office setups using modern displays. Four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and four USB 2.0 ports cover peripheral connectivity front and rear. Audio is handled by a Realtek codec with high-quality capacitors and an audio noise guard for cleaner output. Smart Fan 5 covers two fan headers with five temperature sensor inputs and hybrid PWM/DC detection, including FAN STOP for passive low-load operation. No RGB is present on this board.

⚠️ The A520 chipset does not support CPU overclocking. For overclocking capability, a B550 board is required. A-XMP memory profiles are still supported.

⚠️ Only one M.2 slot is available, with no thermal guard heatsink. Plan NVMe storage accordingly, and consider an aftermarket M.2 heatsink for drives under sustained load.

⚠️ While four DIMM slots are present, the A520 chipset benefits most from matched pairs in dual-channel configuration — populate slots 2 and 4 first for optimal memory performance.

⚠️ Confirm your Ryzen 5000 Series CPU against Gigabyte’s AM4 compatibility list, as some board revisions may require a BIOS update before 5000-series CPUs are recognised out of the box.
