AM5 Platform on a Practical Budget

The A620AM Pro RS brings AMD’s current-generation AM5 socket to a Micro-ATX form factor without inflating the price. It supports the full breadth of Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series processors — including Ryzen 9000X3D variants — giving this board a useful lifespan as AMD continues expanding its AM5 lineup. The 6-layer PCB and 6+2+1 phase Dr.MOS power delivery keep thermals stable and current delivery consistent for processors up to the 120W class, with no need for supplementary power connectors beyond the standard 8-pin ATX.

Memory, Storage, and Expansion

Four DDR5 DIMM slots support dual-channel operation up to 256 GB, with XMP and AMD EXPO profile support for straightforward memory overclocking. Storage is well-provisioned for the chipset tier: two CPU-connected Hyper M.2 slots run at PCIe Gen4x4 (64 Gb/s each), a third chipset-connected Ultra M.2 slot runs at PCIe Gen3x4 (32 Gb/s), and two SATA3 ports cover legacy drives. RAID 0, 1, and 10 is supported across both SATA and NVMe storage. The primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot uses 15μ gold contacts, with a secondary PCIe 3.0 slot running at x2 mode for add-in cards.

Connectivity and I/O

Rear I/O includes a Realtek Dragon 2.5G LAN port, one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, and four USB 2.0 ports, alongside HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K 120Hz) and DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC. Front panel headers include a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C and two additional USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports. An M.2 Key E slot supports optional WiFi/BT module installation — the non-WiFi variant does not include one out of the box. The board carries ASRock’s BIOS Flashback button for hassle-free firmware updates without a CPU or RAM installed, and a Post Status Checker for visual debug feedback at boot.

⚠️ The A620 chipset does not support CPU overclocking (multiplier or BCLK). Memory overclocking via XMP/EXPO profiles is supported. If CPU OC is a requirement, step up to the B650 or X870 chipset.

⚠️ Integrated GPU output (HDMI/DisplayPort) requires a Ryzen processor with integrated Radeon graphics. Ryzen 7000/9000 non-G series CPUs do not include iGPU — a discrete graphics card will be required in those configurations.

⚠️ WiFi is not included. The M.2 Key E slot accepts an optional WiFi/BT module (not supplied). Purchase the A620AM Pro RS WiFi variant if wireless connectivity is needed out of the box.
