R2,179.00 inc. VAT

The Gigabyte A620M S2H is a budget Micro-ATX AM5 motherboard built on the AMD A620 chipset, supporting Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series processors. It features a 5+2+2 phase digital VRM, two DDR5 DIMM slots for up to 128 GB with AMD EXPO and XMP support, a single PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot, four SATA ports, 1GbE LAN, triple-display output via DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and D-Sub, and Gigabyte’s EZ-Latch Plus for tool-free PCIe and M.2 release — a step up from the A620M H with screwless convenience built in.

Description

Practical AM5 Entry with Tool-Free Convenience

The A620M S2H occupies the same budget A620 tier as the A620M H but distinguishes itself with Gigabyte’s EZ-Latch Plus on both the PCIe x16 slot and the M.2 connector — allowing graphics cards to be removed and M.2 drives to be swapped without a screwdriver. For a board at this price point, it’s a genuinely appreciated quality-of-life feature, particularly useful in office or workshop environments where systems are regularly serviced. The 5+2+2 phase digital VRM with Low RDS(on) MOSFETs keeps power delivery stable and efficient for mainstream Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 loads, and Gigabyte’s Smart Fan 6 provides multi-sensor fan control with hybrid PWM/DC support, FAN STOP capability, and dual fan curve modes across three fan headers. Q-Flash Plus rounds out the build-friendly feature set, enabling BIOS updates from a USB drive without any CPU, RAM, or GPU installed.

⚠️ The A620 chipset does not support CPU overclocking. Memory overclocking via AMD EXPO and XMP profiles is supported. If CPU OC is a requirement, B850 is the step up.

⚠️ The 5+2+2 VRM is best matched to 65W TDP processors under sustained load. 105W CPUs will run at stock without issue, but high-TDP sustained workloads are outside the comfort zone of this power stage.

Memory and Storage

Two DDR5 DIMM slots support dual-channel operation up to 128 GB with AMD EXPO and XMP profile support up to DDR5-7200 (OC) on rev 1.x boards. The single CPU-connected M.2 slot (M2A_CPU) runs at PCIe 4.0 x4 across all supported CPU variants and supports both 2280 and the extended 2580 form factor. The M.2 connector features EZ-Latch Plus, meaning the M.2 SSD is secured and released without a screw — a small but practical difference over the M.2 on the A620M H. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports are available for additional storage, and RAID 0/1/10 is supported for both SATA and NVMe devices.

⚠️ Only two DIMM slots are present — maximum 128 GB across two matched sticks for dual-channel operation. Builders who need four DIMM slots or higher capacity should look at the A620M DS3H (256 GB, 4× DIMM).

⚠️ Only one M.2 slot is present. Additional NVMe drives will need to share SATA ports.

💡 Hardware revision matters for this board: rev 1.x carries 1× ARGB and 1× RGB header, while rev 2.0 and later adds a second ARGB header (2× ARGB, 1× RGB). Verify the revision when purchasing if RGB header count is important to your build.

Connectivity and I/O

The rear I/O mirrors the A620M H: DisplayPort 1.4 (up to 4K 144Hz), HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K 60Hz), and D-Sub/VGA (up to 1920×1200 60Hz) for triple-display operation with iGPU-equipped processors. USB on the rear consists of two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port, and the Q-Flash Plus button. No USB Type-C is present anywhere on the board. Front panel USB is handled by one USB 3.2 Gen1 header and two USB 2.0 headers supporting four additional USB 2.0 ports. Realtek Gigabit LAN (1GbE) handles wired networking. Fan headers consist of one CPU fan and two system fan headers with water cooling pump support up to 24W. RGB Fusion is supported via one ARGB header and one RGB LED header on rev 1.x, expanding to two ARGB headers on rev 2.0 and later.

⚠️ No USB Type-C is present on this board — neither rear nor as a front panel header. If Type-C connectivity is needed, a USB adapter or add-in card should be planned.

⚠️ LAN speed is 1 Gigabit only — no 2.5GbE. No Wi-Fi is onboard and no M.2 Key E slot is available for a wireless module.

⚠️ Integrated display output (DisplayPort, HDMI, D-Sub) requires a Ryzen processor with integrated Radeon graphics. Non-G Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs require a discrete GPU.
