The B850 Eagle Ice brings B850’s CPU overclocking support and PCIe Gen5 bandwidth to a full ATX form factor wrapped in an all-white PCB and heatsink aesthetic designed for snow-white chassis builds. The 12+2+2 phase digital VRM on a 6-layer, mid-loss PCB with premium chokes and capacitors handles the full Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 lineup at stock with meaningful OC headroom, and the 8+4-pin ATX12V configuration covers both standard and high-load scenarios. Six fan headers — CPU_FAN, CPU_OPT/pump, three system fan headers, and a system fan/pump header — provide one of the most generous fan control configurations at this tier, and the onboard reset button plus Multi-Key button (reprogrammable as Direct to BIOS or Safe Mode) add practical build-and-tune convenience. Q-Flash Plus allows BIOS updates without any CPU or RAM installed, and the debug LEDs provide rapid boot-failure diagnostics.

⚠️ CPU overclocking is fully supported on B850. The 12+2+2 VRM handles the full Ryzen 7000/9000 range at stock and moderate OC confidently. For sustained heavy all-core overclocking on 170W+ processors, ensure good VRM airflow and consider the supplementary 4-pin ATX12V connector populated.

⚠️ No onboard Wi-Fi is included and no M.2 Key E slot is present for a wireless module. A USB or PCIe Wi-Fi adapter is required for wireless connectivity. The B850 Eagle WiFi7 Ice is the direct wireless equivalent.

Memory and Storage

Four DDR5 DIMM slots support dual-channel operation up to 256 GB, with AMD EXPO and XMP profiles reaching DDR5-8200 (OC). M2A_CPU is CPU-connected and runs at PCIe 5.0 x4 (128 Gb/s) with Ryzen 7000/9000, supporting 22110 and 2280 form factors. M2B_CPU is CPU-connected at PCIe 4.0 x4 (64 Gb/s) with Ryzen 7000/9000, also supporting 22110 and 2280, and drops to PCIe 4.0 x2 with Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 2. M2C_SB is chipset-connected at PCIe 4.0 x2 (32 Gb/s) and supports 22110 and 2280. All three M.2 slots receive 5 W/mk thermal pad coverage. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports handle additional storage, with RAID 0/1/5/10 for NVMe (RAID 5 on Ryzen 9000 only) and RAID 0/1/10 for SATA.

⚠️ M2A_CPU drops from PCIe 5.0 x4 to PCIe 4.0 x4 with Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 1, and remains at PCIe 4.0 x4 with Phoenix 2. Full Gen5 M.2 speeds require Ryzen 7000 or 9000. M2B_CPU drops to x2 with Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 2.

⚠️ M2C_SB (chipset) runs at PCIe 4.0 x2 (32 Gb/s) — adequate for secondary NVMe storage but not a primary high-performance drive slot. Prioritise M2A_CPU and M2B_CPU for performance drives.

⚠️ The two PCIe 3.0 x1 chipset slots share bandwidth with SATA ports 0 and 1. Installing a device in PCIEX1_1 or PCIEX1_2 disables SATA3_0/1 respectively — plan storage and expansion layout accordingly.

Connectivity and I/O

Rear I/O provides nine USB ports: one USB Type-C Gen1 (5 Gbps, CPU), two USB Gen2 Type-A (10 Gbps, red, chipset), and additional USB 2.0 ports via a hub, alongside DisplayPort 1.4 (4K 144Hz), HDMI 2.1 (4K 60Hz), a PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port, and Q-Flash Plus button. Realtek 2.5GbE handles wired networking. Front panel connectivity includes a USB Type-C Gen1 header, a Gen1 header (2 ports), and two USB 2.0 headers (4 ports). Fan headers total six: CPU_FAN, CPU_OPT/pump, three system fan headers, and one system fan/pump header, all 4-pin PWM/DC with Smart Fan 6 and FAN STOP. RGB Fusion 2.0 is supported via three Addressable Gen2 (ARGB) headers and one standard RGB LED header.

⚠️ Integrated display output (HDMI/DisplayPort) requires a Ryzen processor with integrated Radeon graphics. Non-G Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs require a discrete GPU.
