Memory and Storage

Two DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 64 GB of dual-channel memory, with native speeds up to DDR4-3200 and A-XMP profiles extending support further for compatible kits. A single M.2 slot (PCIe 3.0) is covered by MSI’s M.2 Shield Frozr thermal solution, helping keep NVMe drives at safe operating temperatures under sustained workloads. Four SATA III ports round out storage connectivity for additional drives or optical devices.

Connectivity and Display

The rear I/O includes four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 2.0 ports, alongside a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired network connectivity. Onboard display output (HDMI 2.1, supporting up to 4K@60Hz when paired with an APU) makes this board particularly well-suited for Ryzen G-Series APU builds where a discrete GPU is not required. ⚠️ The A520 chipset does not support CPU overclocking — if you need to push Ryzen clock speeds beyond stock, step up to a B550 or X570 board instead. RAM overclocking via A-XMP is still supported.

⚠️ Confirm your chosen Ryzen 5000 Series CPU against MSI’s official AM4 compatibility list, as some early A520 BIOS versions required an update before 5000-series support was available.
